Is the USA's cold snap making you look twice at your hotel's restaurant - the one you'd usually pass up? If so, check out readers' recommendations for hotel restaurants and add your own...
Before the holiday season, I asked Hotel Check-In readers, USA TODAY road warriors and Twitter friends to identify their favorite hotel restaurant for 2009 and, over the last two weeks, your replies arrived.
You nominated hotel restaurants all over the country, including many reasonably priced hotel restaurants.
It's understandable. After all, who wants to stand out for submitting a $50 dinner these days unless you have a very good reason?
Road warrior Chris Byrd of Phoenix told me that he's looking forward to reading recommendations from frequent travelers like himself because he doesn't trust what hotel staffers tell him.
"My biggest pet peeve (is) when I ask the front desk if their restaurant is good or not. They always say, 'Oh, it's great,'" Byrd wrote me. "It never is."
So to start the conversation, here's a list of 10 hotel restaurants from readers who travel frequently. I hope you'll add to it.
Just remember that this isn't intended to be a scientific poll but rather a fun project that we could all help us ease the hassle of finding a trustworthy hotel restaurant.
Green Bay, Wisc.: Road warrior Frank Lee knew this would be "an unexpected" entry - a restaurant at the Comfort Suites Hotel called 1951 West. "It's a surprise because the hotel itself is only okay," wrote Lee, president of the Sales Academy." Their 1951 West Restaurant is one of the best. I have eaten there several times and the food has been consistently outstanding." Most hotels that belong to Comfort Suites chain, by the way, don't have restaurants; this hotel - near a popular water park - is an exception. Specialty items include a Cedar Plank Salmon for about $16 and a Tuesday night pasta bar for $13.
